Why I’m going to Kenya with Camps International

Be yourself; Everyone else is already taken.

— Oscar Wilde.

Safari is something I have always wanted to do and a trip to Kenya before my 16th birthday didn’t exactly seem like it was going to be on the cards for me but when Camps International came into school I just had to convince my parents it was an opportunity not to be missed.

Its my goal to one day teach young children and what better way to do that than being able to share experience of other cultures around the world, the challenges they face and how their way of life differs from our own.

With some convincing my parents agreed to come to the first meeting and we signed up on the night! My Dad even tried convincing me to bring him along! Errr NO!

I had to do a deal with my step mum and my dad to secure my place. We agreed that they would pay for 50% of the £3,940 contribution and I would have to raise the remainder including funds to purchase my kit and travel spending money paying off the balance myself. That’s a lot of money but I promised them I would give it my all and wouldn’t let them down.

Deposits all paid I’m now on my fundraising journey and need everyone’s help to get me to Kenya.

I will be offering sponsorship to businesses, baking and selling cakes and sweet treats and doing any jobs that people need help with to help raise the money I need to get me to Kenya.

I can’t wait to get going and look forward to taking you with me on my journey to Kenya so please stay tuned for more news and fundraising stories as we count down to departure day!
